James Marshall Peterson Jr. of Bradenton passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Chadds Ford, Pa., Nov. 30, 1931, to James Marshall Peterson Sr. and Gertrude Peterson, James completed his freshman and sophomore years of college at Drexel University in Philadelphia, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was later drafted by the U.S. Army and served in Korea. James completed his education at Kutztown University, receiving a bachelor of fine arts degree.

He later worked in various management positions with Brunswick, National Homes, Domore and Westinghouse Corp. until his retirement in 1999.

Jim will always be remembered for his love of magic, a hobby that began when he was eight and continued throughout his life. He was considered the Historian for Ring #81 of the Sarasota chapter of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.

Survivors include his adoring wife of 55 years, Ivy; his son, James M. Peterson, his wife, Joan, and their two daughters, Michelle and Kellen; his daughter, Amy E. Mihelich, her husband, Anthony, and their daughters, Amanda and Allyce, and their triplet sons, Anthony, Benjamin and William.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Manasota Memorial Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Ave., East, Bradenton.
